Treading The Boards: Bill Pertwee in Cinderella (1967-68)

As it's still pretty much the pantomime season, I thought I'd take a fun look back over the next few weeks at various Dad's Army stars appearances in pantomime over the years. In some cases these appearances generally took place before our favourite cast members joined Dad's Army and some after.

Today's post features Bill Pertwee, the Christmas prior to him joining the cast of Dad's Army.

Cinderella commenced at the Theatre Royal, Brighton  on Friday December 22nd 1967 and starred Norman Vaughan as Buttons, 1960s pop star Craig Douglas as Prince Charming, Paula Hendrix as Cinderella, Bill Pertwee as Baron Hardup, Mitzi Maguire as Dandini, Susan Markwell as the Fairy Godmother and featured Barry Howard (many years later to star in David Croft and Jimmy Perry's Hi-De-Hi) and Ricky Renee as The Ugly Sisters.

  • If you remember attending this pantomime or has any newspaper cuttings or ephemera from the production I'd love to have your memories to feature in a future post, so please get in touch!
