This romantic musical started off life at The Players Theatre  in May 1955 and was produced by none other than Hattie Jacques who at this time was married to John Le Mesurier.

Twenty Minutes South focuses on the lives of suburban workers and their office lifestyles and romances. A neat soundtrack album  was released to tie in with the production (which also features John Le Mesurier) and features a mix of upbeat numbers and reflective ballads.

The production appears to be a comedic snapshot of British suburban life in the post war years before young people started looking for their own identity and just before the rock n roll era kicked in.
Twenty Minutes South Cast List
Several names associated with this production went on to bigger things including Douglas Squires, Michael Darbyshire, Daphne Anderson  and of course John Le Mesurier and Hattie Jacques!

Hattie was already a well known voice on radio and would soon join the cast of Hancock's Half Hour while John was very much a jobbing actor during this period taking on various roles in film and television.
