The film work of Stanley Holloway (1890-1982) is possibly better remembered these days due to numerous repeats of his appearances in The Lavender Hill Mob, My Fair Lady and The Titfield Thunderbolt. Although he was also a popular stage actor and comedy performer.

Holloway's recordings spanned some 70 years, many of which were comedy monologues. Some of those monologues were gathered together here on this album released on EMI's Starline label in 1971 entitled The Original Stanley Holloway. His Famous Adventures with Old Sam... The Ramsbottoms. (MRS 5104)

There are some 15 tracks featured on this compilation including The Lion and Albert, Albert Comes Back, Marksman Sam, and With Her Head Tucked Underneath Her Arm.

Although no date appears on the album as such (The Original Stanley Holloway is an extended revisit to an earlier 1950s compilation) most tracks originate from the 1930s and 1940s.

This copy of the album originally retailed for £1.15 way back in the early 70s, however it was 20p when I found it in a Newport charity shop recently - quite a bargain!
